PSC Juniors Program

What are the goals of the PSC Juniors Program?

Our program is a safety-oriented program designed to introduce young people to firearms.  Each month, we start with a mandatory safety briefing, covering general firearms safety rules, the necessity for eye and ear protection, and range commands.  We then cover basic marksmanship topics including proper grip, sight alignment, and trigger press.  Next, we discuss the specific guns that will be used in that month’s program, demonstrating the various controls.  Then we head out to the range.

When is it held?

We meet on the second Saturday of every month.  The safety briefing starts at 1:00 PM, and we usually shoot until about 4:00 PM.  You cannot shoot unless you attend the safety briefing.

What if it rains?

We get wet.  If there’s lightning, we go inside.

Where is it?

The club is located at 3121 W Parkwood Ave (FM 528), Friendswood, TX.  You can also search for “PSC Shooting Club” in the Maps app on your smartphone.

Who can attend?

The program is open to boys and girls ages 12 – 18.  Club membership is not required.

How much does it cost?

There is no charge to participate in the program.  You will have to fill out a Parental Consent form for each child the first time you attend.

What kinds of guns do you shoot?

Over the course of the year, we have programs in rimfire rifle, rimfire pistol, archery, centerfire rifle, centerfire pistol, and shotgun.

What do I need to bring?

One or more kids.  The club provides everything else – firearms, ammunition, targets, eye/ear protection, instructors, water, sodas, and cookies.

Can you help with Scout Merit Badges?

Absolutely.  While we do not have a Merit Badge counselor to handle the book portion, we can help with the shooting portion of the Rifle or Shotgun Merit Badge.

Where can I get more information?
