April 11^th PSC Ladies Program:  Try a gun event!!

This quarter’s PSC Ladies Program will be familiar to some. In Pistol Bay A we will be doing our annual try a gun event. I am arranging for several (hopefully many) different pistols to be available for you to try and determine if you like something before you go out and buy a new/first firearm.

In pistol bay X we will still have our, Basic Introduction to Shooting, and Basic Skills.

Please bring your own handgun and ammunition. (If you have not purchased your handgun yet, please come out anyway. We will have a few to loan to first timers.)

As usual, we will start with introductions, basic safety, and range instructions. During this segment, we will make decisions on the focus of next quarter’s program, and share some ideas (i.e. centerfire rifle, tactical shotgun, repeat of Handgun 101, other Ideas).

This is an orientation and Club tour required for all new members joining the Club.  Prior registration is required.  Significant administrative work is required to prepare, therefore NO WALK-INS will be allowed to attend.  NO EXCEPTIONS!!

SPECIAL NOTE:  The PSC membeship year is July 1st through June 30th.  Members joining in April, May or June will pay the prorated dues ($21/month) for the remainder of the current membership year, plus the full dues for upcoming year.  This is to prevent Members from joining and then having to renew only a few weeks after joining the Club.  Additionally, they will pay the one-time Initiation Fee of $220.

For decades, PSC shot IDPA matches.  Due to numerous repeated rule changes, the Club has dropped its IDPA affiliation and now shoots what we call "PSC Outlaw Matches."  Our match rules are much like IDPA matches several yeasr ago, with some very significant improvements.

Each match consists of a number of different scenarios that simulate realistic defensive shooting situations.  A competitor receives a score for each scenario in the match and the lowest total score wins.  The score is a composite of the raw time to shoot each scenario, plus time added for points down on targets and any procedural penalties

The AR15 Match is a 2 gun event that requires BOTH a rifle and PCC.  Pistols CANNOT be substituted for the PCC.   Please visit the AR15 Match page on the PSC website to review match rules and details before signing up. 

Shooter orientation is held at Range 1 at 8:00AM on Match Day.

To shoot this match, you will need all three guns since all will be used at each stage:

• Pistol - 9mm, 40s&w, 45acp
• Shotgun - 12ga or 20ga
   Bird shots lead only #6 or smaller
   Slugs
• PCC - 9mm, 40s&w, 45acp

Shooter's meeting at 8:00am and hammer down at 8:30am.
