We have had several requests from you, the members, for more steel pistol targets, specifically the hostage type with the alternating head and moving center.  We purchased three additional sets of these targets and make the whole north side of the pistol cells (1-15) into steel targets only and the opposite (south) side cells into paper targets only. The exception will be cell 5 which will remain a paper target cell for those times when a shooter may need to check your zero on paper so you won’t have to go to the other side just for that. And of course cell 6 which is for SHOTGUNS ONLY. They should be installed in about three weeks.

As the steel targets are very popular and fun to shoot, more people will be shooting on the “steel side” which can create a parking issue, particularly in the 5-6 corner. We’re putting additional parking spots in front of Tin Can Alley and you can always park along the access road. Just please be mindful of where and how you park to make room for others.  Park at 90 degrees to the road; i.e. no parallel parking.

We all remember what our mama told us about how to act.  Yes, she said always follow the Golden Rule, “Do to others how you want others to do to you”.  That Golden Rule is a reflection of part of the answer Jesus gave to the religious officials who had asked him, “Which is the most important commandment?”  The second part of Jesus’s answer was, “Love your neighbor as yourself.”  So, mom was right on target!  Just think how much anxiety and anger would be avoided if everyone followed mom’s advice. 

Here at PSC we would do well to remember mom’s advice when going down range to place, evaluate, pr retrieve targets.  When there are only one or two shooters on the firing line, it is pretty easy to get agreement for a cease fire so a shooter can go down range to place or retrieve targets.  However, when several shooters are on the firing line, it can be frustrating to call a cease fire every couple of minutes for someone to go down range.  For some folks getting time to go to the range is not easy to find, especially if you must drive a longe distance.  Range time is precious when you are trying to work technical issues with different loads, sight adjustments, or with new equipment.  Be generous when negotiating with shooters on the firing line for a time to call a cease fire.  Especially aggravating is when a guy wheels up, stops, jumps out of his truck and wants to call a cease fire so HE can go down range and place HIS targets.  So be considerate when requesting a cease fire, you should expect to wait 5,10, or even 15 minutes before the firing line can me made safe for shooters to go down range.  Everyone will be happier and safer if you remember mom’s advice, “Do to others how you want others to do to you.”

1.  Are Match Directors required to use Excel for Match Reports?

Answer:  Yes. if at all possible.  It improves accuracy, speeds up report creation and is useful to the Club's Treasurer.  There is a pdf version for matches that do not use t he Club's PayPal account.  Use it ONLY as a last resort.

2.  What if a Match Director does not have Excel or know how to use it?

Answer:  If a Match Director does not have Excel, then he should have a member of his team create the report.  If you need to have someone else prepare the Match Report, email them a copy of the master Excel Match Report. 

3.  What steps are required to start using the Club's registration system?

To All PSC Match Directors:

First, the PSC Board of Directors thanks you for your service as a Match Director ("MD")!  Without you, none of these activities would be possible.  The Club has a rich history of volunteers and you are part of that 60-year effort on behalf of our Members.

Match Reports Required:

As all MDs are aware, a match report must be submitted to the Club's Treasurer on a timely basis.  The information contained in those reports is used for several purposes, including budgeting for maintenance, expansion of facilities, etc.  Unfortunately, some folks are better at getting reports submitted than others.  In order to help our MDs, and our Treasurer, we have a new system for preparing and submitting Match Reports.  There are two different formats of the standard PSC Match Report available.  One is for matches that use the Club's PayPal account to collect match fees.  The 2nd form is for matches that do not use the Club's PayPal account.

System Overview:

Match Report submission has two options, so pick the one that works best for you.  First, download the Match Report (Excel) that is appropriate for your match (PayPal v. not PayPal).  Enter the information in the green cells and completion of  the report is automated.  Once you have filled out the report, print it and put it and a check for the non-member fees ($6.50 per nonmember shooter) in an envelope and deposit it in the "mail box" in front of the PSC shop.  It's under the RO cabinet to the left of the overhead door.  If you do not have Excel and do not use PayPal, then download the pdf verson of  the Match Report and fill it out by hand.  This won't work for Matches using the Club's PayPal account because of the PayPal fees that must be considered.  

That's all there is to it.  Using Excel, this should be a 5 to 10 minute process.  Be sure to put the name of the match on the envelope before putting it in the PSC "mail box."  Documents going into the mail box go to different directors.  Also, when you put a match report into the mail box, please raise the flag to let us know there is something to retrieve.

Be sure to submit a Match Report every month, even if your match is cancelled!  Simply put "cancelled" in the Date block.  Otherwise, our Treasurer will not know if a match was cancelled, or a Match Report has not been submitted for a match that was held.  As noted below, this is important information.

Match Report Deadline:

All match reports are due within one month of the match.  This has always been the deadline, but too often some reports are late, sometime months late, while others are never submitted at all.  This has to stop.  We don't think anyone makes the conscience decision not to submit a report; it simply gets put off and then forgotten.  Reports and fees are due no later than the next match day for your match.  Although most MDs come to the Club several times throughout the month, this policy keeps those who don't from having to make a special trip.  Simply put the report and check in an envelope and drop it in the mail box on your next match day.  Be sure to write "Match Report" on the envolope so it will go to the correct Board Member.

 We have adopted a policy to help get this important information to our Treasurer.  For any given Match, if a Match Report is not submitted and fees paid by the next match day, then all future matches are suspended until outstanding Match Reports are submitted and non-member fees are paid.

Payment of Non-Member Fees via PayPal:

If your match uses the Club's PayPal account for registration and collection of match fees, then you will not be submitting a check to the Club's Treasurer.  Non-member fees are handled by the PayPal registration process.  You will be using a separate Match Report that reflects this procedure.
